This might seem like a silly question, but for people who fly into CA for this hotel, are they flying into LAX or SAN? It seems that the hotel is approximately a little over an hour from both airports... I would be flying in from East Coast, if that's relevant in any way.
Also, since this is more of a staycation, is there even a point to rent a car? Would a taxi or private transpo be ridonkulously expensive?
As above poster said, SNA is closest viable airport.
As for car, doing a quick Uber check it'll be at least $50/one-way from SNA (probably $120/one-way from LAX). From resort to Dana Point (where some variety of restaurants are), it's about $15/one-way. I would personally rent a car, depending on how many nights you're staying. If you want to avoid paying parking at the resort, you can park on Stonehill Dr. for free. 10 min walk to lobby. There is a certain time (I think Fri) for street sweeping though.
