This does not applies to the connections. I did that last year and also was worried after reading the horror stories.
IAD-LIS-SVQ on TAP. Transit passport check took maybe a minute (if that), and that's going both ways.
I wouldn't hesitate taking TAP to connect in LIS but I'm not sure if I would like to go to Lisbon. Why anyone would want to endure this harassment standing in line for 2 hours for no reason? It's 2025 and absolutely zero reasons for the big lines at the immigration.
