9 of my last 10 BRU-JFK or JFK-BRU flights have been on ex-Eurowings and ex-Lufthansa planes. I might start giving Delta a shot. Almost always cheaper and the seat can't possibly be worse than what SN if currently flying on this route. Also, pretty tired of their cancellations on this route. My flight from 2 days ago was cancelled the day before, and this wasn't the first time unfortunately.
edit: to answer the question above - I've never had SN weigh my carry-on, not in economy, not in business.
As Oliver pointed out, DL just announced they're ending JFK-BRU. So your options are SN out of JFK or UA out of EWR for nonstops.
Sure, cancellations stink. But at least with SN you are owed 600 euros comp regardless of whether you leg starts in EU or US because they're an EU-flagged carrier subject to EC261 on both ends. If you fly DL and they cancel JFK-BRU you're owed nothing.
