That's a bit disappointing that there's no guarantee for entry into the specified lounge, but understandable given that the Lomond Lounge is not huge. It's just not a great experience that you potentially had to queue twice for lounges, then possibly a third time for a restaurant/bar. £30 is also a bit stingy as that doesn't go very far in the airport facilities - roughly 1 modest meal and 1 drink.
Did you happen to use the check-in desk, and if so was there any mention of the lounge arrangement at that point?

At check-in we were advised that lounges were likely at capacity, but the voucher needed to be collected from BA staff in the UD lounge regardless. There was a queue just to collect the vouchers!
There were two of us, so the vouchers stretched to a bottle of sparkling wine and a deli platter of meats, cheese, olives etc which was decent enough. We had 5 hours in T5 GF before our long haul so it wasn’t the end of the world on this trip.
