IHG Diamond requires 120k base points, earning is 10pts per $ spent on hotel stays ($12k)
Hyatt Globalist requires 100k base points earning is 5pts per $ on hotel stays. ($20k).
So IHG is a lot cheaper if earning status with base points. One possible plus for Hyatt is lifetime Globalist at 1m base points. I do not believe IHG have lifetime status. Of course it can be a risky business chasing such long term goals in the loyalty world
It might be better to just book through the likes of Amex FHR since that way you end up getting most all of the benefits that top tier elites get anyway regardless of brand
