Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mount Arlington-Rockway Area NJ

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, I have stayed at this property a many times before. It has always been fine.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked One King Bed Standard, Received One King Bed Suite Sofa Bed

How are the rooms?

Typically Suburban HIX Room. Last renovated approx. 4 to 5 years ago. Rooms still generally in good shape.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good
  • Location - Hotel is easy on/off from I-80 (though eastbound exit ramp was closed for construction this trip).
  • Almost always get a complimentary upgrade to a suite at this property.
  • Complimentary Coffee and Tea available 24x7 in lobby. With the new US HIX brand standard for Costa Coffee, this is becoming generally available at all US locations.
  • Set far back from the road so rooms are quiet.
  • Dunkin Donuts and Cracker Barrel in the same parking lot.
Bad
  • Breakfast room is relatively small and cramped.
  • Vert limited fitness center even for a HIX. Tiny room with 1 Treadmill, 1 Elliptical and some free weights.
Neutral
  • First room we received smelled smoky immediately upon entry.. Went back to front desk and was given a new room without any hassle. Front desk associate was apologetic about the smoky room. Looked like he noted it for inspection/maintenance.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

I have used this hotel many times for a roadside stop during car trips between PA and NY. While rates have risen a bit over the past few years, it is frequently still a good value for both cash and points stays. I would return again the next time I need another roadside stop in the area.
