I was recently booked on Condor (Business Class) on a Westjet round-trip ticket from YYJ through YYC (segment with Westjet) and then on to FRA with Condor. The positive side: the experience in the air was great, wonderful service and food. The seats were quite hard, but that could be helped with the provided mattress pad. So no complaints there.
The issue was Condor on the ground:
- Chaotic and inefficient boarding in Calgary
- Bus gate in FRA on the way in
- Bus gate again in FRA on the way out, chaotic and slow boarding
- No automatic baggage transfer in YYC on tagged through bags. According to a customs officer, Condor does not subscribe to this service, so you have to do it the archaic way: claim your baggage, haul it through customs and then to a Westjet baggage drop. Also, you go through security again. No Westjet transfer desks were available, so you went from Terminal D arrivals to Terminal A Westjet check-in, a long haul with heavy luggage (and my connecting flight was from terminal D again...) I have last experienced this type of customs/connections handling in Canada about a decade ago. I will not repeat this and not use Condor for the foreseeable future, at least.
@Condor: all the above may be acceptable on a $500 economy ticket, it was totally unacceptable on a $4,000 business class ticket. Unsurprisingly, business class was half-empty on both flights
