A simple question; for a while my wife and I have started flying KLM for leisure as well as my work. Prior to this I just added her name to the booking and she got all the benefits that came with my gold, including seat booking 72hrs hours in advance for comfort / exit seats but didn't get XP or earn miles.

I decided to create a KLM family to pool points which I thought was a good idea and created her as a blue member. We have a flight coming up in October and whilst I can see she will earn miles and XP, now that I added her FB number to the booking, will her Blue status mean I can no longer do the advance booking for us both 72hrs ahead? Or is it valid for my +1 regardless of status?

If so, is there a workaround i.e. removing the FB number and only adding it back after seat selection? I personally value seat selection (together in an exit or similar) over miles, especially for EU flights.

Great if someone who has experience with this could comment.
