Thanks very much, CPH-Flyer. This is super-helpful, albeit not entirely what I wanted to hear. So if we're unsuccessful getting our luggage through-checked (which we won't know until day-of), it's likely going to be *much* more complicated attempting to remain airside. Given this, it's sounding like the safer play is just to apply for a visa to enter Japan and plan on spending our overnight layover landside (whether it be Villa Fontaine or some other nearby landside hotel).
