if you consider citi losing slightly lesser money as a reward, then yeah, you are rewarding citi for bad cust svc
i dont see a struggle because value proposition hasnt change much, especially if you only intended to put spend on the card to utilise the credits. and you simply shouldnt cancel a card right after you get SUB or before the 1 year mark for obvious reasons. this holds whether citi provide good or bad service. while the screwup may provide an excuse, im not keen to exploit it for the 2 reasons above
