I was under the impression that if a free night was available, the extra night certificate would apply. I’ve called twice now, and the Miraval Arizona agent told me they only allocate a limited number of rooms, regardless of points availability. I even had the MHC call Miraval on my behalf, and the concierge was just as surprised as I was. This makes the award much harder to use.

I was able to redeem it at the Austin property earlier this year, so I’m not sure if this limitation is specific to Arizona.
