They should take the lead of the other "big three" and start boarding 35-40 min prior to departure, particularly for 738/MAX8 flights with lots of preboards and with non-expanded overhead bin space. In that way they can actually start boarding non-preboard passengers at least 30 min prior to departure, and have time to deal with the deluge of carry-ons that they have invited with their new policies.
Half the time the plane isn't even there 40 minutes before departure. That didn't used to be much of a problem because the egalitarian boarding process was speedy, but now it is.
