I was booked on a Schengen LH flight recently to FRA connecting to LH404 (FRA-JFK). The inbound to my origin was almost an hour late which caused me to be roughly 1 hour late to FRA. We also arrived at a B bus gate which is about as far as you can get from the Z gates. The reason for the inbound delay is listed as "Delay Airport Facilities" (according to EF). The inbound was supposed to depart FRA at 1250 and at 1245 when I looked online it still showed on-time. So the delay appears to have come in at the last minute.

Long story short, I overnighted at FRA on my own dime and I've submitted a claim using the customer feedback form on LH. I'm assuming that not only covers my hotel/meal expenses (I uploaded receipts) but it also makes the claim for EC261? I didn't see a separate form or check box.

Anybody know what "Delay Airport Facilities" means? If I had to guess the busses weren't there to take them to the plane as they departed from A3. Is that reason enough to claim EC261 or will LH say "it's the airport's fault, not ours"?

Thanks,
-RM
You will need to specifically claim EU261 compensation, full duty of care always applies & if LH reject your delay compensation you need to ask them to be specific regarding the cause of the delay.
