If more domestic upgrades are something you value, then I would say no.
Last year I only needed to stretch one extra trip to hit Plat vs Gold, and I knew I was doing more travel this year so it seemed worth it.
So far this year 100% of my travel has been domestic in the lower 48 states. I've tracked every flight I've taken this year and so far I've had 73 segments with United, YTD I've only been upgraded 3 times and never on a flight long enough to get meal service. While I value being able to choose exit row aisle when I book I don't see much value over Gold. I've only tried to us my Pluspoints once, on an IAD-SFO leg on a 787 but wasn't upgraded; I will try and use them on a EWR-CUN flight later this year. Your milage may vary
