Chase Travel - imposing additional fare restrictions?
I thought I would share this to see if others have had the same problem. I needed to book a refundable fare on LATAM Airlines from Chile to Argentina. The premium economy fare that I chose, is, according to LATAM, fully refundable. But when purchasing through the Chase Travel portal, Chase indicated the fare was not fully refundable even though the fare rules said that it was (provided the cancellation occurs before the first flight on the itinerary). I went ahead and purchased anyway, figuring the Chase Travel site had boilerplate information that was incorrect.
Once I booked the flight, I checked the LATAM Airlines web site, and the site indicated that I would need to contact Chase to cancel (but that it was refundable). Out an abundance of caution, I reached out to Chase Travel's customer service about whether the flight was refundable. The representative indicated that the Chase boilerplate language was correct, and that the refund provision in the fare rules meant that I would receive a travel credit. Not wanting to fight about this if I actually needed to cancel, I just went ahead and cancelled it then within 24 hours of booking, which got me a refund.
Is Chase Travel imposing additional cancellation restrictions on fares that it sells?
