BA seem to have given up on this route, putting 787s on both rotations in the winter schedule, with old CW.
I think BA giving up would be pulling one of BA 5/6 or BA 7/8, or both of them. I doubt the airline gives much thought to the seat configuration as people keep flying with them! When I flew BA15 and 16 on the 787 you'd think with all the competition on that route that the product was uncompetitive and yet CW was full on both routes. In fact on BA16 CW was so overbooked I and 6 other pax got upgraded to F!
I am not a BA cheerleader on this. Like everyone else if I had the choice I'd have no hesitation in choosing JAL or ANA. Yet from what I can see, the premium pax keep paying to fly with BA!
