i don't think this is true? We got points and nights/stay credit just like regular, including elite bonus.

It is good at any hilton hotel that is branded strictly as plain old hilton. Telling a lie on purpose is not allowed, but i know the wording is confusing which is why I usually gave examples "not valid at tapestry or curio for example". In fairness it's more likely they did not understand that nuance rather than intentionally lied. A lot of the agents don't understand all of the brands. It's a stressful low paying job and the training about the hhonors program is minimal - it's more about the destinations and the rules
also note you don't HAVE to pick Hilton. We picked Hilton Garden Inn because we knew we were gonna stay at one soon. Also the cert is only valid for 6 month, not a year like they originally told us...
