Doing 30-40 segments I would guess there might be 2 upgrades you might get that you wouldn't get as Gold, but you may not so call it 50/50. The extra miles are worth a minimal amount maybe $300. It's probably not going to be the wisest investment but it that $1000 isn't a big amount for you why not.
