Nai Lert BKK

Just back from 2 night stay at Aman Nai Lert. I know there has been grumbling about the pricing relative to other Bangkok properties but I think it's worth the premium (great relative value in the post pandemic pricing world).

Greeted at jetbridge by Aman sponsored representative (as well as a second person for TG F) with expedited immigration and luggage assistance. House car is new BMW i7 which makes 45 min transfer into the city confortable.

The location of the hotel is an oasis. It is set in Nai Lert park so entry is very controlled. The front of the hotel is a calm space, rather than a mass of cars, taxis etc.

The hard product is fantastic. We stayed in a Premier Suite on the 16th floor overlooking Nai Lert park. I enjoy rooms which are airy with space around the bed area rather than separate living and bed rooms so this design fits my taste. The water feature atrium upon exiting the elevator on this floor is very zen.

Housekeeping was ninja-like as expected. Service very receptive as front desk hosts would rush to push elevator button and inquire about day's activities. It isn't as polished yet as more established Amans but well on its way. Employees very motivated and caring.

We only had breakfasts at the hotel as so many great food options in Bangkok. Breakfast was a la carte and was good. I liked walking over to Central Embassy for their high end eathai food court - a nice surprise. We also had dinner at R-Haan in the city - well deserving of it's 2 Michelin stars.

Spa area is small but there is steam room, sauna and cold and heated plunge pools which we used to help fight off jet lag. Dyson Airwrap in the womens' change area too...IYKYK. We had relaxing aromatherapy massages.

The hotel pool is gorgeous with a bar next to it... best access is through spa with separate elevator.

We had an included private tour of the Nai Lert heritage home which I would recommend. It is short but allows you to see the interior of the teak house where the family lived. "Nai Lert" was very entrepreneurial, selling lemonade at the age of 18 to developing a real estate/hospitality/cultural empire which his family still runs. The tour includes a nice gift and a refreshing beverage at the end. There were also 2 daily other planned activities at the hotel which we didn't do but seemed interesting.

Gearoid Lyons, the Regional Director of Aman for Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as well as the GM of Amanpuri was in house and we discussed service standards for new properties. He was quite engaging.

In BKK, we've stayed at Peninsula, PH and Cabochon. I really enjoyed Aman Nai Lert and would happily return the next time we're in the city.
