20 years ago, one could get an ALON or GLON certificate, which would give you SIX NIGHTS in Hawaii for 100k. In fact at the time there were several promotions that would get someone a Gold upgrade AND earn 50k for 5 stays over a 90 day period. So essentially with that promo (it was big on FT until 2005 or so) it essentially mean that one got six nights at about 17,000 points per night (or about 8,500 if using the promotion). Today the cheapest you will find, pretty much ever is 80,000 per night, and often 120k per night (and perhaps more at other HH properties in the islands) so even including the 5th night free, one is looking at a minimum of 400k for the same six night stay, this is an increase of anywhere between 5.5 -11x depending how you look at it! Now one can say that if one is DIamond, if one has cards, and if one signed up for every possible promotion, that points are earned 2-3x faster than they were back then, but it is still ridiculous!
