I think another thread has discussed, but AUS operations and infrastructure currently cannot handle a 'busy day' or more flights... unless as part of this they are doing major upgrades to the airport terminals, security and layout, not just adding an extension with a few more gates like they did to JFK and create more ramp congestion and it more annoying to connect from that area.

As for connecting... how 'nice' a city/area is doesn't matter to me if I'm not leaving the airport. What matters is the airport operations and connecting times and options.
