AJ's epiphany on the flight from Dusseldorf

I flew BA today in ET from DUS-LHR. Well, actually LH paid me to fly BA.
I was booked on them for VIE-DUS-LHR. First I got an op-up for VIE-DUS. (OLCI+SSCI, and the machine spat out the C BP. Another first!)

Then I checked online to see the LH DUS-LHR was zeroed out in all classes. Offered to volunteer and succesfully got VDB. Earned a nice 250 Euros, which was twice the cost of the original ticket.

And now to the relevant bit: LH rebooked me on BA. Checked in after about a 10-15 minute wait at the sole check-in desk. It was a 767. Got a D seat in the 2nd row of Y. Empty seat next to me. ^

Crew were sooo friendly. Having been brought up on LH of course, I was totally gobsmacked!

Meal: All Day Deli with a delicious Ham, cheese and coleslaw sarnie on malted grain bread. And a pot of Blueberry cheesecake. (On LH I would have got a tiny plastic wrapped finger sandwich chucked at me.) And the drinks trolley FA was so cheerful. I had asked for only some still water. She gave that and then told me to get something else too as she won't be able to make a 2nd round in such a short flight. (Convinced me to try some red wine!)

And there was Shopping the World too in a 55 minute flight. My Amex got a teeny workout!

Anyways, to cut a long story short:

I really enjoyed BA today. Friendly crew, good food and drink. Comfortable seats. Couldn't ask for anything more.

BA beat LH hands down IMO. And, ceteris paribus, I will certainly go out of my way to fly BA for these short-haul segments again!
