JetBlue Retires the Embraer E190

Earlier today, September 9th, 2025, Jetblue flew its final revenue Embraer E190 flight retiring the aircraft after 2 decades of flying. N329JB operating flight JetBlue 190, a fitting flight number, departed from New York’s John F. Kennedy International airport around 1245. After less than an hour in the air, the aircraft arrived at Boston’s Logan international airport.
The New York based airline was the launch customer for the 100 seat Embraer 190 when it entered into service in November 2005. The airline historically operated a total of 63 of the aircraft of its original 100 order options throughout the last 20 years.
JetBlue retired the aging fleet of Embraer 190 aircraft to replace it with the newer Airbus A220-300. The A220 was favored for its fuel efficiency and lowered operating costs. With 50 in service and another 50 on order, the airlines first A220-300 entered into service in April of 2021. The 140 seat A220 joins JetBlue’s fleet of all narrow bodied Airbus aircraft, with a fleet size of about 280 aircraft.
