I don't think it's the "material non-public" aspect. But talking about AA de-hubbing ORD, or other airlines folding, just doesn't seem "right" in this rather genteel industry. Then again, Kirby has done nothing to hide his disdain for AA in his words (at investor events) and actions, plus has spoken openly about the imminent failure of a competitor. So I guess it's not too surprising.
You don't mention the history — it would not be surprising if he left AA with an axe to grind!
