Although OT for this thread, I'd love to see some examples cities and rates in the Edit thread. Because I have found exactly zero "reasonable" properties in Las Vegas, Washington or Nashville for the dates I checked. Of course it depends on your definition of reasonable and the location/dates. If I am paying cash I rarely pay a base rate of more than $200/night. Quite to the contrary for Amex where we recently found multiple options for <$200/nt in Phoenix.

Why would I care if it is "sustainable"? In this game, nothing remains the same over the long run. Chase is making record profits, I think Amex is also doing well. And in any case I'm not worried about whether they make a profit on my card
