I have an award ticket, also upgraded with upgrade certificate. if I change the flight voluntarily, could I request the upgrade certificate back ? if I could , I just change the award flight online then call customer care for request?

I thought current rules stipulate that upgrade certificates can only be applied to revenue tickets, not award tickets?
