Don't forget that if you fly J on AC you'll make SE after 7-8 trips, assuming you only fly LHR. With making SE status before mid Nov, you'll enjoy SE for the remainder of the year and all of the next. I'm not sure how the instant status thing will work in terms of experience pkgs, but you could conceivably find yourself on top of 100K bonus miles that you can spend easily with you new SE status.
