Got charged well over UK£100 at Edinburgh this January for 8 KG overwight between two of us. Both OWS. Ticket wqas BA so Mea Culpa for checking that BA carry on rules did not apply.
Boarded and got to know adjacent passengers who were bringing on 2 unweighed bags. The only diffference seemed to be they were PC OWS rather than both of us being BA.
As someone that has transitioned over from BA to QR following the BAEC changes, the hand luggage allowance on QR is one of the few downsides for me. But still, there's plenty of positives over BA which makes up for it.
