On OXE this morning (after OJQ last night and a return to Auckland)
4x 5GHz radios (80MHz channel width) (Wi-Fi 5) and 4 x 2.4GHz (20MHz) (Wi-Fi4).
Signal strength looked like there were 2 lots of 2 radios. So as previously mentioned not well spread out along plane.
For 2.4GHz used channels 1 & 6 so got a clash. Given the use of only 2 location maybe 1 5 9 13 would be a better channel plan. 1 and 9 and 5 and 13.
For 5 GHz used 149 and 36 so got a clash. Given 80 MHz width and guessing a plane with a weather radar on board want to skip the DFS channels think 36 and 149 are you only options. Given limited speed of Starlink could go with 40MHz and not have the overlap and won't notice the speed drop? Given density of devices more radios and 40MHz width most probably better?
While on the 5GHz got 272Mbps down and 36.7Mbps up. 39ms unloaded ping and 70ms download ping and 31ms upload ping and 13ms jitter. If anything think that latency is helping a lot. Would be interesting to see what the performance would be like if everyone jumped on as only about a dozen Wi-Fi clients.
They still don't appear to be using a Captive Portal like with Immarsat.
