Don't worry, the gate is always the last defense, they will likely just scan it there if you don't go through the check-in desk.
During my last trip where I did not upload any details as mentioned earlier, I received a text message...
"We need to update some of your details before departure. Please report to an agent at gate 65."
Quite frustrating as my passport details are in my profile and they were checked on the outgoing flight so they had all the information needed already.
