AA denying expenses on cancelled flight

Did your son file for reimbursement for clothing expenses? I'm searching all over FT and trying to find if it's possible. My daughter's flight was cancelled 48 hours (2 days in a row) and she was stranded in London, where she had to go out and buy replacement underwear, pants, and a top. AA won't pay the clothing expense claim, despite the fact that they would not release her checked luggage as they kept re-booking (then cancelling) her US flights.
