As a first timer on American, I'll be flying out from BHX on EI later in the month and will arrive in DUB at 09:15. (I believe my luggage with go all the way through to my final destination as I'll be transferring to another flight at CLT.)
The flight to CLT leaves at 11:45 and I've read differing people's experiences as to how long it takes to go through US Clearance. Will about two and a half hours be enough time to get from my plane to actually boarding? I'll be travelling in J so, as a transit passenger, am I right in thinking that there is a Fast Track lane?
Re: electronic items in hand luggage. It'll just be my phone and a digital compact camera. Can they remain in the carry on bag when it goes through the machine?
Thank you in advance for your help.
2.5 hours will be LOADS of time. There is a business lane for the US security / boarding pass / passport check. Most of the time business travellers are directed through the green lane which means no screening required - just straight through to immigration. For normal security screening only larger electronic items need come out (laptops, tablets etc).

Safe travels.
