This is why I chose a 100k promo offer for a new AMEX Gold instead of the Atmos Summit. While I continue to log enough BIS miles on AS / HA to earn gold, I have my LT AA PLT (OW Sapphire) for 2 free checked bags, ability to reserve premium Y at time of booking on AA and AS. AA / AS / BA out of SAN meet virtually all of my needs, so if/when AS continues on the current course, I will become a OW free agent, booking with the carrier offering the best pricing, award redemption values. 3 BofA credit cards with grandfathered free $99 companion passes also help AS's cause.
