So basically there needs to be points availability in Upper Class in order to use your 'compensation' voucher, should you elect to take that instead of UK261 compo.
If I understand the previous poster correctly, although there has to be Points availability in Upper Class in order to use the voucher, it is treated like a cash ticket insofar as you're not then asked to pay additional YQ and tax charges like you would on a regular Points booking.
I booked far in advance for the flight, but the voucher only mentioned just the availability in Upper Class, not Points availability seats in my case.
