”A new report by airline compensation firm Flightright has labeled Finnair the worst airline in Europe for 2025, placing it behind Ryanair, Vueling, and easyJet. The study, which analyzed 20 airlines, rated carriers on reliability, payment behavior, and customer satisfaction. Finnair received an overall score of 2.48 out of five, dragged down by a reliability score of just 1.5. This finding has surprised many in the aviation industry, as Skytrax recently ranked Finnair 25th worldwide, making it one of Europe’s better-rated carriers.
The report covers only the first half of 2025, a period when Finnair faced mass cancellations due to pilot and ground staff strikes. Critics have also questioned the methodology, noting that Flightright’s survey focused heavily on compensation-related experiences rather than overall service quality, fleet, or passenger comfort. Finnair recently invested in cabin upgrades across its A330s and A350s, including the launch of a new premium economy product and redesigned business class. For many travelers, this makes the carrier’s low Flightright ranking difficult to reconcile with its strong global reputation.”
