True. However, two years ago (so it may have changed), I did get a UK stamp either on my train to or departing from St. Pancras (I forget which!) when I left on the Eurostar.
That was likely a French entry stamp as UK does not typically stamp passports on the way out.
The US still stamps.
Not typically anymore (if you enter by air) for both foreigners and Americans.
