I am drafting my request for reimbursement this week. My interpretation of the regulations is that once the airline cancelled my flight, it had the obligation to refund, and it was not my duty to chase it for the the refund. I will be requesting reimbursement for my replacement flight, additional hotel cost and a food allowance for the day extra I had to wait. It will go by registered letter. I anticipate a long drawn out fight that will result in litigation.
