As I said in a previous post, typically, yes they would. As far as why that didn't happen on your flight, who knows, but it was likely a one-off error on the part of the GA and nothing to do with anyone trying to steal your upgrade.
I really don't think any input is going to help at this point. The OP is
convinced a GA was out to steal his upgrade. Nothing anyone can say will ever change that. Reminds me of a Navy Captain trying to find the person responsible for stealing his strawberries!
