I'd definitely call AF to explore options. In my experience (as a Plat) they've always been rather permissive. I like to wait a bit before exerting my right, to enjoy the flexibility it gives me.
My understanding of their policy is you can preserve the duration of your stay, or change cities within a 300 miles radius.
(I'm not sure you can change both dates and cities.)
