Which airline? CX OWE will unlock the HVC seats at the front of the plane, with extra legroom (but nothing else), by virtue of their NZL/HKG joint business agreement.
Possible also that QF OWE might do the same, on account of their codeshare agreement, but I haven’t had personal experience of this.
My OWE status comes via BA gold, so probably not a lot of help.
I'm thinking about traveling from UK to see the one day cricket during the second half of October. I want to split the trip up with a few days in SE Asia, so it's a question of where to get the best price. I was looking at stopping in KUL, but MH direct flights have gone up from £1,700 return to over £3k recently. Next best deal is NZ from either Bali or CGK (with Garuda providing the hop from CGK to DPS)
