I've been here a handful of times over the years, a number between 5-10, and have always received proper treatment as either a Platinum or Diamond IHG member. Never have I been relegated to a standard room, even when booking with points or a free night certificate during the busiest season in August.

Typical upgrades are to Premium Sea View Balcony (infinity style balcony with deck flooring and glass) or Premium Sea View with Terrace (longer infinity balcony with sun loungers), but this time they really went above and beyond: all the way up to the 2-room 5th floor suite! The hotel typically also goes above and beyond the basic club elite benefits: Diamond breakfast has been granted to more than 2 guests in the room, and they've even given breakfast, drink/snack vouchers, and welcome points all at once (did not happen this stay, but did on the previous one).

Note that they are building a new wing from scratch next to the existing building, but this construction has not been noisy or bothersome in any way. They say the new wing will be mostly suites/family style rooms, which is great news.

The rooms are definitely showing their age in terms of design, but are maintained properly and clean.

It's a really great place that is literally beachfront with private sandy beach (no roads to cross), outdoor pool, indoor pool with sauna/jacuzzi/steam room, and free parking. Alpha Mega supermarket is only a ten-minute walk away. As far as I'm concerned, this place is fantastic redemption value for elites (during busier seasons) if you are not seeking 5-star luxury.
