The credit card companies no longer require merchants to obtain signatures. A lot of merchants are still asking regardless.

My lunch receipt today only had the tip line and the total line, there was no signature line on the receipt since the merchant had implemented the above change. Instead it stated "No Signature Required" at the bottom of the receipt.
