Blue Elephant Restaurant
Lot’s of people rave about this place; I was underwhelmed.
Mid-Tier recommendations:
Ban Chiang, 14 Soi Srivieng, Surasak Road (off Silom).
Tel: 02-236 7045.
Open: 11am-2pm & 5.30pm-10.30pm.
Credit cards accepted.
Set in an old-style Thai house with comfortable garden tables, the restaurant offers authentic central Thai cuisine. More adventurous diners might like to try some of the more spicy Isaan dishes.
I’ve been here twice on the recommendation of another FT’er. Highly recommended

Food Court
Most shopping centers have a food court where you buy coupons or a magnetic card, then walk around to one of the 20 – 50 stalls that each specialize in certain dishes. Maybe try the food court at Mah Boon Krong (MBK) (6th Fl.?) a giant shopping center in Bangkok. Stall C15 (0r 18) has a great Hoy Tod. Or try Central Department Store food court 7th floor-Chit Lom (BTS).
Street food
Walk down just about any side street (soi) off a main street in Bangkok and you will see dozens of carts.
