Accordingly, once I reach Platinum, as I usually do every year in about September, I sort of become a "free agent" (though I'll generally choose Delta so I can enjoy the perqs of status),and also might tend to defer optional and flexible travel until the next calendar year.
My suggestion to Delta might be to hand out some sort of perq to those reaching, say, $20K or $22K. Not a separate status tier, but maybe handout a couple of additional RUCs or a couple of SkyClub guest passes, or something like that.
AS has "milestone bonuses" halfway in between status levels and above the top level. Choice of a variety of options. These sub-levels do make people engaged with other earning methods like CC spend if a milestone is in reach near year-end.
DL also has too large of a gap between DM at $28k and the next milestone of 2 additional GUC's at $50k. If it was 40k, I'd go for it. Instead I have shut down the DL CC spend and moved on to other CC's.
