They definitely have gone hard in on the All Inclusive crowd.
I noticed it this year whereas in previous visits it was not really apparent. On my last visit at least 50% of guests had the red bands. Definitely changes the tone of the place.
With the CAT increase and this new direction, I doubt I will be back. Standard 4* resort sums it up well.
Yes, whilst I wouldn't go as far as 'Benidorm' just yet, it's the direction it seems to be going. In fact a lot of the resorts along that Nusa Dua beach are regulars on the Lux Escapes website for AI deals. I knew Legian/Kuta wouldn't be my thing (though great for a day trip for my teenagers to go fake shopping, etc.) due to this, but definitely seems like Nusa Dua is going a similar direction.
It's tough for resort staff as they're trying to juggle two very different sets of guests. I will say the management were very good to me as Glob - for example I wanted to do the weekly BBQ but it was full two days before when I went to book - the manager found us a table without issue.
But yes, I think next time I've have a look at the northern beaches. More my speed.
