Going back a few weeks, on 8/7, AA73 (LAX-SYD) was delayed 15 hours (overnight delay). After boarding, we sat for close to a couple hours prior to the decision being made that the plane would not fly that that night. According to updates from one of the pilots, there was a heat source coming from underneath a lav that could not be identified nor stopped. Safety first, great.
Rooms were provided for pax not originating in LA county. But being past midnight at LAX it turned into a cluster pretty quickly. Luckily we got through on the provided hotline.
AA provided us a room and 2,500 miles each for the trouble. We were in business on an award.
Later, the delay almost became an afterthought by comparison as they also lost all of our bags and we were provided 10,000 miles each for that.
Thoughts on how much more compensation to ask for in addition to our lost baggage $ claim?
