For aircraft with windows at row 11, it should be easy for UA to pop-up a disclaimer if selecting 11A and 11F saying that in the event of an equipment change, there is a possibility that there will be no window at that seat. Then it's up to the consumer to decide whether keeping that seat is worth it.

(And, in even smaller print, refer back to the CoC stating that seat assignments are never guaranteed.)
