I have used TSA PreCheck Touchless ID multiple times at JFK without issue but when I went through security at PDX the agent looked at me blankly when I didn't present my ID initially and just said "I have TSA PreCheck Touchless ID"; there was no line at the time so when he didn't react I just quickly grabbed my ID to hand to him. My digital boarding pass did have the correct indication on it so I am not sure what I did incorrectly. Is it possible the agent just hasn't been trained on this service?
Has your JFK experience been at T8 or another terminal? I wasn’t aware of T8 having the touchless machine, but perhaps it was recently installed. Were you using a line with the touchless machine?
