When you land at LHR pull up your reservation at aa.com and cancel it, this will remove you from the LHR-OPO flight. Then just go through flight connections like usual with your separate LHR-BCN boarding pass.

Following up on this. You can actually cancel the flight you are currently on mid-flight? I.e. if I am flying IAD-DOH-DEL, I can cancel the flight while I am on the IAD-DEL segment or upon landing so that I can take a different DOH-BOM flight?
