I agree about AI, and found different non-answers myself.
I also don't think I would worry it to death, especially if they don't provide a policy. If it doesn't spell out a service charge, and one is using points, then a gratuity is optional. No sense going overboard over a tip. Carry a few bucks whether you need them for tips or not
